Pink Slip / Vehicle Safety Check

Once the registration inspection has been carried out we will either give the car a pass and electronically submit your pink slip to Services NSW or will provide you with a list of necessary repairs that must be fixed in order to have the vehicle registered.

NSW reports are valid for 6 months, excluding public passenger vehicles. You must use the report to renew registration within 6 months for the safety check to be valid.

What is checked during a registration inspection?

During your registration inspection our mechanic will go through a list of inspection areas that need to be given a pass or fail verdict. A Vehicle Safety Check/ Pink Slip inspection report verifies your vehicle is safe and ready for the road. Your registration renewal notice tells you when you need an inspection.

Most light vehicles more than 5 years old need a yearly safety inspection report (also known as a pink slip) before they can be registered in NSW.

Light vehicles include:

• Passenger Cars
• Motorcycles
• Trailers and Caravans

Camex Autocare is an authorised inspection station of Service NSW. Our reports are electronically connected to Transport for NSW.

If the vehicle fails, you'll be issued with a Repairs Needed report, and you have 14 days to have the work done. After 14 days, the report expires, and you'll have to pay for a new Safety check.

Once all repairs are carried out, a follow-up check is required. If you return to the same Safety Check station that failed the vehicle initially, there'll be no charge.

Trailers that weigh less than 251 kilograms and caravans with a tare weight of less than 411kg do not require a Safety Check.

We process the inspections online directly to the RMS and this occurs normally within 10 minutes and once we issue your pink slip.
